Welcoming a Visit Focused on Community Impact<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Centacare FNQ was pleased to welcome Director-General Natalie Wilde and representatives from the Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism to our Community Connect Hub at Cairns Central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the impact of the Community Connect Hub, delivered in partnership with Cairns Central Shopping Centre, and to highlight the many ways Centacare FNQ works alongside communities across Far North Queensland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting More Than 45 Cultural Communities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A key focus of the discussion was our long-standing commitment to supporting culturally and linguistically diverse communities through the Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS) program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the FNQ Community Leaders Network, Centacare FNQ engages with more than 45 cultural communities, helping strengthen connections, build community capacity and create opportunities for participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shared Priorities for Stronger Communities<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The visit also provided valuable opportunities to discuss shared priorities, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Anti-discrimination<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Human rights<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Social inclusion<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Suicide prevention<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    These conversations highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, community organisations and local leaders in addressing complex social issues and creating positive outcomes for individuals and families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Connecting Communities Through Digital Innovation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Director-General Wilde and her team were introduced to our innovative In Your Language initiative, which uses culturally relevant digital content to connect communities with important information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Developed in partnership with local multicultural content creators, the project uses platforms such as TikTok to deliver messages in community languages and improve access to information for people from diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Insights From the Frontline<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Our frontline staff shared valuable insights from their work across a range of service areas, demonstrating the breadth of support delivered through our multicultural programs and the strong relationships built within communities throughout the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
